    Foad Ghavami

    Dr. Ghavami graduated from Tehran University school of medicine followed by 4 years cardiology residency in the same institution. He later went on to train in internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at SUNY down state in 90s. He is board certified in cardiology and nuclear medicine. For more than 20 years, he has been practicing cardiology, as a private physician, in Staten Island. He currently holds affiliation with Northwell Health and Columbia Presbyterian.

    Timothy O'Byrne

    Director of Echocardiography Lab, Cardiovascular Associates of Staten Island

    Dr. O’Byrne earned his medical degree form SUNY-Health Science Center at Brooklyn/Downstate Medical Center.  He completed his post-graduate training in internal medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and then completed a fellowship in cardiology and echocardiography and served as chief fellow at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University.  He is a native Staten Islander with close ties in the community especially with Monsignor Farrell High School.  He is known for his understanding and sincere demeanor.  He is an expert in non-invasive cardiology especially echocardiography and stress echocardiography testing.  He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and managing partner of Cardiovascular Associates of Staten Island.  He is the director of the echocardiography lab at Cardiovascular Associates of Staten Island.

    Frank Tamburrino
    MD, FACC
    Director of Cardiac Interventions, Staten Island University Hospital

    Dr. Frank Tamburrino is a native Staten Islander who went to Monsignor Farrell high school and takes pride in treating the people of Staten Island.  One of his goals both in the office and in the hospital is to provide every modality of care here on the island so no one needs to go elsewhere. Dr. Tamburrino is an interventional cardiologist who has clinical expertise in interventional cardiology and high risk interventions which includes CTO, brachytherapy, complex high risk interventions and cardiogenic shock. Dr. Tamburrino completed his post graduate training in Cardiology at St. Vincent's Manhattan and served as chief resident and later chief fellow during his time there. He further trained in Interventional Cardiology at The Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. He currently is the Director of Cardiac Interventions in cath lab at SIUH and is integrally involved in quality care both here and in the Northwell healthcare system. Dr. Tamburrino is board certified in cardiology, interventional cardiology, and vascular interpretation. He also performs echocardiography, holter monitoring and nuclear stress testing.

    Jonathan Spagnola

    Associate Fellowship Director, Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship, Staten Island University Hospital

    Dr. Jonathan Spagnola is an interventional cardiologist who is passionate about treating patients in his native borough. He earned his medical degree from St. George's University. Dr. Spagnola completed his post graduate training in internal medicine and cardiology at Staten Island University Hospital and served as chief resident and later chief fellow during his time there. He further trained in Interventional Cardiology at Lenox Hill Hospital. He currently is the Associate Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship at SIUH and an Assistant Professor of Cardiology at the Hofstra-Zucker School of Medicine where he trains future cardiologists. He is a native Staten Islander and went to Regis High School. Dr. Spagnola is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and vascular interpretation. His clinical passion is in heart attacks, cardiogenic shock and complex interventions.
